Insider Threat Training

Although not exactly Ethics and Compliance, I was wondering if there were any companies that have an established insider threat training program they would be willing to share.  The requirement to have one is coming up on us quickly.  I

Training Effectiveness

Anyone have an insight on what you consider a best practice for determining compliance/ethics training effectiveness?

"Root Cures for Root Causes"

It's essential in every organization to recognize where they are at the most risk. With certain employees, in certain areas, misconduct may be much more likely.

People lie. We all have, and we all do. Sometimes more than we realize. For a brief, energetic session that incorporated statistics and Star Wars, Cherie Raven (BAE) tackles the topic of what makes a lie. What's a lie to me, and not to you?

At seemingly every forum and every meeting, we hear about "tone from the top." It's essential that our leaders embody the same values that we expect of our most junior employees.

In our last panel before our Networking Lunch, we have what moderator Steve Epstein calls the "dream team": Ruth Vetter (DOD SOCO) and RADM Peg Klein (Office of Military Professionalism).

What's still "buried in the toolkit"?

Perhaps one of the most valuable opportunities that DII provides is the interface between government customers and the defense industry itself.

Review timing for Policies and Procedures

Amanda Hashfield's picture

We are looking at the frequency for reviewing our policies and procedures.  I would love some insight on what other government contractors have set up for your review cadence, including:

- How frequently are your policies and procedures reviewed

- Does the cadence vary for polices v. procedures or between different policies and procedures?  If it varies for different policies and procedures, how do you determine which ones are reviewed more frequently or less frequently.

Thanks for your help!

Gifts from Employee to Supervisor

Andrew Shaddock's picture

I was wondering if any member companies had policies in place to restrict gifts from employees to supervisors or managers. If so, would you be willing to share the restrictions and other policy details?

Thank you,

Background Checks

John Bartholomew's picture

I was wondering if member companies would be willing to share the extent to which they use background checks for their employees.  My company has contract specific requirements, but I am wondering what other employees and departments are checked (e.g., finance employees, procurement staff etc.)?

thank you

Ethics and Political Contributions

Maranatha Hayes's picture

We are taking a fresh look at our political contributions process and are interested in hearing from other defense companies about whether you have any criteria for vetting candidates from an ethics perspective before making contributions. If you have any materials or guidance you'd be willing to share, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks so much for your time.

Joy

"Commercial" Gift Limits

Rielle Miller Gabriel's picture

We are in the process of revising our gifts and hospitality policy and are interested in hearing from our peers about your gifts/hospitality limits for "commercial" business relations.

A) What is your dollar limit for giving gifts/hospitality to commercial business relations (if you have one)?

B) How did you arrive at your commercial limit - i.e., what considerations or sources did you use to establish your limit?

Thank you, Rielle

Frequency of Code Rewrite/Update and harcopy print

Gail Allen's picture

We have updated our Code of Conduct and on the cusp of printing.  We'd like to know how often DII member companies rewrite/update their Code of Conduct and provide printed hardcopies to all employees outside of the new hire orientation.  Any feedback that can be provided today, 9 June, is sincerely appreciated.

Thanks, Gail Allen

Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002

Kevin Misener's picture

Sarbanes Oxley Act

Sarbanes-Oxley Act was an attempt by the Federal Government to prevent future instances of securities and other financial fraud committed in high profile scandals such as Enron and Worldcom. Though criticized heavily for its alleged failures, it was brought back to the forefront of legal discussion by Dodd Frank’s controversial “bounty hunter” provisions.
